Sloths and other wildlife

Earlier today.  Sitting by the pool, being lazy and as a result verystill,  looking around and here came this cute little guy deliberately and ever so slowly coming down a fica tree. It had a black stripe down its back and a patch with no hair. Wonder why.  Googled, of course, but no info. Did learn there is a Sloth Sanctuary near here. Guess this is their habitat. So graceful in a tree and vulnerable on the ground. Curious about me as I am about him(or her).

And I hear Toucans in the trees and howler monkeys. Guess I'm actually back in the rainforest again.

OMG just found an Agouti in my way on the path from the pool. Bigger than expected, related to a Guinea Pig and looks like a giant squirrel without a furry tail.

And then there is the ubiquitous sound of the weed wacker down the road and the smell of weed wafting in the breeze.  Life abounds and it seems to be way more noisy and busy  here than on the Ille de Saturna.  My noisest neighbours at home are the Sealions and Oystercatchers and surprisingly I have learned to edit them out.  Plus we are so old and in the way that eating pot brownies is more fun than smoking.

I can't end this post without commenting about the music. Walking down the street today reggae of various eras was the ever present sound track along with the cicadas.  Definitely the Caribbean here mon. Fortunately at the small resort where I am staying the French woman who is the owner/manager likes sophisticated quiet jazz which is playing in the outdoor lounge while I sit, having an afternoon drink and writing my thoughts. She also likes candles and tropical flowers. I am told there is fresh tuna tonite.
